Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: September 24, 2026
The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities, in line with the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
Conformance status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard, most of it because parts of the site are still being migrated from static content to our content management system. We are actively working to close these gaps.
Accessibility features on this site
- A “Skip to Main Content” link at the start of every page, so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass repeated header navigation.
- A visible keyboard-focus indicator on every interactive control.
- Semantic HTML landmarks and a logical heading structure on every page.
- Keyboard-operable navigation, forms, modals, and dropdowns — no feature on this site requires a mouse.
- Descriptive alternative text on informative images, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology.
- Labels and error messages on every form field, programmatically associated with their inputs.
- An accessibility toolbar (in partnership with the Government of India’s UX4G initiative) offering text resizing, high-contrast and dark modes, a dyslexia-friendly font, link highlighting, animation pausing, an image-hiding mode, a reading guide, and screen-reader-style read-aloud on hover.
- Support for over 20 Indian languages via an on-page translation tool.
- A dedicated Screen Reader Access page listing compatible screen-reader software and where to download it.
- A responsive layout that works down to mobile screen widths and remains usable at up to 200% browser zoom.
Known limitations
- A small number of links on older content pages are placeholders pending final source documents from the relevant department, and do not yet navigate anywhere.
- Some PDF documents published on this site originate from third parties and may not be fully screen-reader accessible; we are working with content owners to improve this over time.
- Not every page has been through a full manual screen-reader and keyboard walkthrough yet — we prioritise fixes as they are identified.
Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with the latest versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari, and with screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, and Windows Narrator. See the Screen Reader Access page for details and download links.
